Tomeka Thiam, the wife of American singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer Akon, has filed for divorce after 29 years of marriage.
A report by TMZ citing court documents says Tomeka “is pulling the plug on their marriage — citing the usual irreconcilable differences.”

The filing was made just four days before what would have been their 29th wedding anniversary on Sept. 15.
The couple got married September 15, 1996 but Akon has in the past spoken publicly about polygamy and his large family structure and him having many “wives”.
In addition to seeking spousal support, Tomeka is asking for joint legal custody and physical custody of their 17 year child.
