LUTON – Zimbabwe senior national team captain Marvelous Nakamba featured for Luton Town’s U-21 side on Wednesday as he continues his recovery towards full fitness.

This is amid growing speculation over a potential move away from the club ahead of the transfer deadline day.

Nakamba has yet to train with Luton’s first team during preseason.

He even missed their opening fixture of their League One campaign, following the club’s relegation last season.

Speaking on Nakamba’s involvement with the U-21s, Luton Town manager Matt Bloomfield said: “Marv’s working his way back to full fitness. He’s played for the under-21s, which is good, he got 45 minutes under his belt.

“He can’t train every day of the week like others because he had a knee injury a couple of years ago, so we’ve had to take it slow with him.”

On Nakamba’s future at the club, Bloomfield added:

“Like a few others, there’s been a lot of speculation and interest in him from elsewhere. So it’s been a slow pre-season for him.”

Recent reports suggest the former Aston Villa midfielder is attracting interest from Premier League clubs.

He is also linked to potential moves to Turkey or Saudi Arabia.

Nakamba’s contract with Luton expires next year.
