Zimbabwe national team midfielder Andy Rinomhota is confident they can upset Nigeria during a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier set for Tuesday evening at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
The Cardiff City attacking midfielder told the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) media team that he believes the Warriors traveled to Nigeria to get a positive result.
“We respect Nigeria, but not too much. We will try to impose ourselves. We have come here to get a result and keep pushing towards our goal,” he said.
“We are optimistic. We got a result against Nigeria last time, even though it was technically a home game in Rwanda.
“That was my first game, it was a big test, and the team did well to draw. This time, we want to go a step further.”
The teams drew 1-1 in the first leg that was played at Huye Stadium in Rwanda.
Walter Musona scored a beautiful freekick to put Zimbabwe ahead while former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho equalised for the Super Eagles.
