HARARE – Zimbabwean R&B singer Trevor Dongo has broken his silence on the fire that reportedly gutted his apartment in Harare, posting a concerning lengthy message on Facebook in which he expressed that he did not want to live anymore.
According to unconfirmed reports, Dongo’s home was torched by one of the women in his life, after she caught with him with another love interest.
The singer is said to have run out to get the police, leaving the two women fighting in his apartment. When he was out that is when one of the women burned the apartment in the middle of the night.
In a Facebook post, Dongo said he had lost some things that were most valuable to him. He claimed that some of the stories circulating online about the fire were false.
“The level of toxicity that drives some bloggers and journalists these days is insane. I’m slowly starting to accept reality that’s why I had to gather up a bit of strength to type this message.
“Fabricated stories are circulating, different versions for the sake of getting likes and tarnish my image but avo vane information yakakwana are the closest kwandiri, zvimwe zvese wonai nekunyeperwa for the sake of monetization ye social media,” Dongo said.
Dongo suggested that he was now losing hope, stating that he no longer sees a reason to live. He assured fans that any new music he has recorded will be released posthumously, suggesting deep emotional turmoil.
“I am losing hope and I don’t think there’s no reason for me to live. All the music that I have recorded ichangosara ichiburitswa kuti muwane chenkundirangarira nacho,” he wrote.
Dongo thanked other musicians for assisting him.
“I lost things that took me years to build, furniture, clothes, shoes, studio equipment, company documents, flat etc and I suffered serious burns mushure mekunge ndadzoka and tried to save and retrieve zvandaikwanisa asi zvakaramba.
“I am in serious pain I’ve been a good father and friend. My life is ruined but I would like to thank friends and relatives that are genuine. Zim Musicians, Jimmy Xtra Large, Kelvin Motsi, Mabvuramiti, my doctor, my apostle, my lawyer etc,” he added.
