English Premier League (EPL) side Wolverhampton Wanderers coach Vitor Pereira has praised Zimbabwe international Marshall Munetsi for his versatility saying he is effective in both defense and attack.
Munetsi, primarily a central midfielder, has been deployed as a false 9 since joining Wolves from French Ligue 1 side Stade Reims on transfer deadline day.
The 28-year-old made his full debut over the weekend, assisting Matheus Cunha’s second-half goal in Wolves’ 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Speaking after the match, Pereira praised Munetsi’s impact: “What I’m asking him to do is to help the team as a midfielder and to appear from the back into the box.
“And he has again a situation to score, and it was not today, but every time he appears there, he has a chance to score.
“But what I like in this player is the guy who can miss a goal in the opponent’s box and then, after 30 seconds, he is defending in our box.
“This is what we wanted when we looked for him. We wanted to find a physical midfielder who can support the other two midfielders.”
Since his arrival, Munetsi had came off the bench twice against Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool, but Saturday’s game was his first start for Wolves.
The former Baroka and Orlando Pirates star joined the Premier League side from Stade Reims in a £16.6 million deal.
