RANDBURG – South African broadcasting giant DStv has announced that it will stop airing Yadah TV effective 31 January 2025.
While the company did not disclose specific reasons for terminating the deal, the decision comes amid mounting controversy surrounding the Yadah TV owner and Prophetic, Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries leader Prophet Walter Magaya.
Magaya who is making headlines for the wrong reasons, is implicated in a forgery scandal involving his educational qualifications.
The cleric’s already tarnished image was further soiled this week when he was exposed for fabricating a diploma and an honorary doctorate from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
Magaya was exposed on Tuesday by UK based journalist Maynard Manyowa.
Manyowa wrote to UNISA inquiring about Magaya’s diploma after speculation was rife it was fabricated
UNISA confirmed the diploma was fabricated further revealing Magaya’s honorary doctorate was ‘cooked’ too.
The institution highlighted that Magaya’s name was not in its database.
Magaya submitted the diploma at the High Court while contesting his disqualification from the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) elections.
He argued that he should not have been excluded for failing to provide an O’ Level certificate a key requirement, citing he had higher qualifications.
However, he lost the High Court case with judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi ruling he should have submitted the prerequisite O’ Level certificate to qualify for the poll.
