The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) Normalisation Committee (NC) has officially announced that the much anticipated ZIFA presidential elections are scheduled for the 25th of January 2025 at the Rainbow Towers in Harare.
The FIFA appointed NC which is also the electoral committee, announced during a press briefing regarding the elections held in Harare on Monday.
These elections will be held according to the new ZIFA electoral code as well as new the new ZIFA statutes that were adopted by the congress recently.
“We promise that this is going to be a free fair and credible election. The elections will be held on 25 January 2025 at Rainbow Towers in Harare,” NC member Nyasha Sanyamandwe said.
She added: “Following the opening of the nomination we intend to receive them until December 11, and we will do the vetting then on December 23 we will announce the list of candidates that will contest the elections.
“We will announce the list of candidates that would have passed the eligibility test.”
According to the newly adopted ZIFA statutes, candidates who are willing to vie for the presidential post, should be holders of five ‘O’ levels or equivalent.
The new ZIFA executive committee will consist of of 11 members including the presidents and the two vice presidents, one of them (vices) should be a female.
There has not been a ZIFA executive committee since 2021 when the Felton Kamambo led board was suspended by the government arm, the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).
