Chillspot Records producer Tafadzwa Mandaza, known as DJ Ribhe, allegedly spiked the drink of the 14-year-old girl he is accused of raping, sexually assaulting her overnight before she regained consciousness the next day.
According to the prosecutor Anesu Chirenje the victim, a Form Two pupil, did not go home after school on 18 October, which had alarmed her father. When he checked with the school, he found out that she had been absent for the previous two days as well.
Before she was allegedly sexually assaulted, the victim had gone to Ribhe’s home with other people, who are unnamed in the State papers.
“On the 17th day of October 2024 at around 2200hrs the complainant went to the accused place in the company of other people and they went to Mashwede Village where the accused manipulated the complainant to drink an unknown substance and smoking shisha,” the court heard.
The victim is said to have regained consciousness the next morning, upon which she discovered that Ribhe had violated her.
“When the complainant woke up, she realised that the accused had had sexual intercourse with her and without her consent,” read the outline.
The day after, at around 9 am, the schoolgirl was then located in Highfield, Harare after a missing person report was lodged at ZRP Glen Norah.
The rape allegations came to light on October 20 when the schoolgirl was interviewed by her father after she had been located.
