It is set to be a bleak festive season for controversial South African music executive Nota Baloyi, after he was sentenced to 60 days in prison for contempt of court.
Nota, who recently divorced musician Berita Khumalo, was nabbed in court while there to answer for rape allegations that were recently filed against him.
The rape matter was earlier postponed to verify the WhatsApp chats between him and his accuser Itumeleng Bokaba.
Baloyi initially ignored a court order obtained by K.O, real name Ntokozo Mdluli. K.O had initially asked him to refrain from sharing information implicating him in the assassination of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes.
Baloyi has on numerous occasions, publicly targeted K.O., insinuating that the musician failed to safeguard the late rapper AKA, as well as alleging that K.O.’s brother was implicated in AKA’s tragic death that happened last year.
The order, which led to Baloyi’s arrest read:
“The Sheriff of the court and the South African Police Service are directed to take the respondent into custody and to deliver the respondent to the Leeuwkop Prison or any other prison within Gauteng for a period of sixty days.”
Posting on social media after his arrest, Baloyi appeared unperturbed by the possibility of significant prison time.
“I accept my fate in the cause of #Justice4AKA & #4TibzSake; that’s all from me for now,” he stated, indicating he remains focused on the broader implications of his ongoing legal struggles.
Last month, Baloyi spent a weekend in custody before securing bail at R5 000 from the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
