Zimbabwe Warriors Under-20 squad for AFCON qualifiers named

The Zimbabwe Warriors Under-20 provisional squad for the upcoming TotalEnergies CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025 – COSAFA qualifiers has been named.

The Young Warriors head coach, Simon Marange selected his troops who are set to do duty in upcoming competition slated for 25 September to 5 October 2024 in Maputo, Mozambique.

Marange will hoping his squad makes it to the final in order to qualify for the prestigious 2025 AFCON finals.

The nations teams that reach the final will automatically represent Southern Africa at AFCON next year.

There are familiar faces in Marange’s squad which is dominated mainly by Premier Soccer League (PSL) players including CAPS United’s Kingsley Mureremba, Highlanders trio of Prince Ndlovu, Mvelo Khoza and Nigel Banda.

Exciting forward Washington Mapuwa of Green Fuel, is also in the squad.

Three foreign based players including SuperSport United’s new acquisition Nokutenda Mangezi who is making headlines following his move to the Pretoria based side is also in the squad.

Kurainashe Musanhi plying his trade in England with Crystal Palace together with Chelmsford City’s Kennedy Mupomba also earned call ups.

In the goalkeeping department, Marange who is currently coaching Orlando Pirates’ developmental side, trusted local goalkeepers only.

These are: Joseph Kaunda of Manica Diamonds, Michael Kubvedzi who is with ZPC Kariba and Tatenda Chikowero playing for Ngezi Platinum.
