Arubi training with Marumo Gallants after parting ways with SuperSport United
Veteran goalkeeper Washington ‘Sekuru Gudo’ Arubi is training with Marumo Gallants in South Africa with the hope of rejoin his former paymasters after parting ways with SuperSport United recently.
The former Zimbabwe Warriors goalie was offloaded by United last week following the expiration of his contract and the club decided against renewing it.
He confirmed his departure at United to South Africa’s popular magazine Kickoff: “I’m no longer with SuperSport United. I stopped being with the team when they went to Botswana.”
The 38-year-old has been conducting individual training sessions after leaving United probably with hope to find another club in South Africa.
Formerly with Highlanders and Bantu Rovers, Arubi revealed that he will “bounce back” in the field of play and he will not retire as he feels “my body is still there”.
As a result, talks between Arubi and Gallants are said to be going on smoothly, meaning to say the Mutare born shotstopper is likely to play for the club in the upcoming season.
According to FARPost, Gallants are keen to retain Arubi and the deal is imminent with all terms having been agreed on.
