We don’t have space to accommodate him: Joey Antipas on Kuda Mahachi

BULAWAYO – Re-appointed Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas has finally ended speculation on Kuda Mahachi’s reunion with the former champions saying “We have no space to accommodate him”.

Mahachi became a free agent recently following his release by Ghanaian side Medeama after five months at the club.

“Medeama and Kudakwashe Mahachi have parted ways on mutual ground after five months at the club,” the club said in a statement.

He had “joined the Mauve and Yellows in August 2023 but struggled to cement his role due to lack of fitness.”

With his release, the 30-year-old was rumored to be rejoining Chicken Inn, a club he once played for before taking his career to South Africa where he had stints with Golden Arrows, Mamelodi Sundowns, SuperSport United and Soweto giants Orlando Pirates.

However, Antipas who worked with the speedy winger before he left Zimbabwe as well as at the national team, finally ended speculation on the rumour.

“It’s very unfortunate that Mahachi only lasted five months at his Ghanaian club. The truth is we don’t know the reason why he was let go. We also don’t know about his fitness levels.

“More so, we have been busy making some recruitments. So, we are now a full house at Chicken Inn. We don’t have any space to accommodate him,” Antipas told Zimpapers Sports Hub.

Before joining Madeama, Mahachi was out of action for close to one year.

This was due to allegations of child abuse and attempted murder involving his child Diego, then aged four, leading to his release by SuperSport United.

He was acquitted of the charges and rediscovered his talent in Ghana.
