FC Platinum midfielder Ralph Kawondera says they are ready for their CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg encounter against Mozambique’s Costa do Sol.
The two teams clash at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.
“I’m preparing myself and getting ready for the upcoming game because it is so important for us players.
“I’m happy I scored in the first leg and I pray that I also score again on Saturday because I need to help my team achieve its target which is to qualify for group stage.”
Kawondera admits that Costa do Sol might be a tough opponent, but says as players they will be challenged to bring out the best in him.
“It’s a tough encounter, l believe it’s going to bring out the best in us as a team.
“We are not afraid of them though they’re regarded the best in their country.
“We are at par with our opponents because football is the same, world over,” he said.
Kawondera says they want to make history.
“We are not only playing as a club but representing the country as well so we want to raise the country’s flag high.
“It’s all about making history and working hard to make our country proud.
“I think we have a good group of players full of confidence wanting to write their names in the history books.”
Pure Platinum Play won 2-1 away.
When asked on their chances of qualifying for the second round he said:
“We did well away and I think we will do better at home because we have home advantage.
“We want to do all we can to make sure that we qualify for the next round.
“We believe in ourselves and what we can do for the team and I think we are ready for the encounter.
“So we have to believe to achieve the best. Football is a game and anything can happen. We can’t go fearing any opposition or opponent.
“We are ready for the challenge.” H-Metro
