The Effort Maphosa-led church has lined up a number of crusades themed Glory and Power in Harare and Chitungwiza but the musicians will perform on March 15 through to 16 at Zengeza Grounds. Of late, gospel musicians have been relying more on church crusades.

The prevailing economic environment in the country is hindering many music promoters to hire gospel musicians because of their waning appeal, hence the church has come to the rescue.

Some mega churches including Walter Magaya-led Prophetic Healing and Deliverance (PHD) Ministries and New Revelations Ministries led by youthful Miracle Paul among others went a step further by hiring secular musicians like Lady Squanda, Dadza D and Killer T among others to perform at their church events.

Owing to mega-churches’ crowd pulling capacity, the bulk of musicians want to perform in churches apart from “better remuneration” factor. Meanwhile, Maphosa said the move is meant to grow the church.

“We started in Munyati, a rural set-up, and then moved to KweKwe urban. Now we are moving to Harare and Chitungwiza as some of our members live in these towns,” Maphosa said.

Maphosa claims Nigerian televangelist TB Joshua is his spiritual father.

“I went to Nigeria in 2012 to consult the man of God, TB Joshua about my career. I wanted to develop my career as a chartered accountant but little did I know that God had other plans for me.

“I met Walter Magaya in Nigeria and we were commissioned to start the work of the Lord together but it took me time to venture into evangelism,” said Maphosa.

“I then decided to obey the voice of the Lord in 2015 when I founded Grace Abound Church…..” DailyNews
