Ricky Fire ignites flame

By Blessing Masakadza

Popular dancehall singer Ricky Fire seems to have found a resurrection formula as he is back on the limelight. The Ndiratidze Zvaunoita singer had a quiet 2018, a year which was dominated by a number of new chanters with his album failing to hold its own.

‘‘Ricky Moto’’ as the chanter is fondly known has come up with a new song, Nguva Yareba Takanyarara, marking his start of 2019 productions. Born Tulani Takavada, the chanter acknowledges he has had a long hiatus away from the microphone saying he has been observing trends in the industry.

“Tadzoka kubva kuleave. Tune name Nguva Yareba Takanyarara. Late entry pan Matunzi riddim by Marlon T (Back from leave, song titled Nguva Yareba Takanyarara, late entry on the Matunzi riddim by Marlon T),” he wrote. He will be back to business starting this Saturday with a show in Marondera at Club Werras together with another veteran Guspy Warrior.

“These are two veterans whose contribution in the growth of Zimdancehall is well documented,” Werras Entertainment management said. Werras Entertainment is also behind the proposed gig scheduled for April 13 under the banner of Zimdancehall Reunion, new school meets old school set for Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

One thing that cannot be taken away from Ricky Fire is the ability to wow fans with his prowess in producing party songs.

He made a name for himself with songs such as Ndiratidze Zvaunoita which featured raunchy dancer Beverly Sibanda, Kumba Kunouya Kuno and Zvemu TV which featured another dancer Zoey.

He has also mastered the art of producing conscious songs with songs such as She Never Leave Me Lonely coming to mind. DailyNews
