Two men have been sentenced to a $100 fine each or 30 days in jail for cutting down a tree at President Robert Mugabe’s Buckland Estates in Borrowdale.

They were charged under the Forestry Act and pleaded not guilty before a Harare magistrate.
The two, Godfrey Dhausi and Fortune Mutevedzi, both 26, were arrested for attempting to poach firewood worth $60 on 28 June this year.
The State prosecution said a truck belonging to the accused persons was discovered parked in the estate around 5pm and security personnel approached it.
The two had cut down a tree and were in the process of loading firewood into the truck and were arrested. Nehanda Radio
