Timmy loses $1 350 property

Popular comedian Timothy “Timmy” Tapfumaneyi of the “Timmy naBonzo” fame allegedly lost property worth $1 350 among them 60 quail birds he was breeding at home to his tenants.

The tenants Benny Notisi and Nomatter Nyabai on Friday appeared before magistrate Batanai Madzingira charged with theft.

The couple stole two second-hand Mercedes Benz tyres, a tool box, a wheel spanner, a jerry can, a school trunk, 60 quail birds, a camping canvas set, a set of 6 micro wave dishes, 12 dish towels, a set of 6 knives, 12 table spoons, a set of 6 teaspoons, set of 12 table knives, a set of 12 table forks, 3 metal axes, several untreated fowl run planks, two metal cups, a silver tumbler, 2 cooking pots, a dressing table, a two plate stove, an umbrella, 300 DVDs, an electric pot toy, five steel plates, a plastic cup, a shifting spanner, a file, a two-litre tin of cobra, a ball, a My First ABC book.

They are, however, denying the charges.

Prosecutor Ms Netsai Mushayabasa alleged that on period that extends from July 2015 up to the 7th June 2016 at number 13 Sir Herbert Taylor Road, Belvedere, Harare the complainant discovered that the accused persons stole the mentioned property.

On June 8 at around 1000 hours the complainant filed a police report and Constable Kaiswa went to the accused person’s cabin house and recovered several items including a dressing table, all valued at $99.

State called its first witness Timmy who told the court that the couple were tenants but became domestic workers after failing to pay rental, having fallen on hard times.

The couple was granted free bail and will be back in court on June 16.
