The gunman killed seven people and wounded another in a rolling crime scene that spanned a 12-mile swath of terror across Kalamazoo, a southwestern Michigan city 130 miles west of Detroit.

The nightmarish shootings transformed ordinary weekend activities into scenes of carnage as the gunman killed a father and son browsing the brightly-lit Seelye Kia of Kalamazoo parking lot and four adults in vehicles parked outside a Cracker Barrel restaurant.

The 45-year-old suspect, a Kalamazoo resident, voluntarily gave up and pulled over along the city’s northeastern street after a deputy spotted the man driving a vehicle seen in surveillance footage. A firearm was recovered from the man’s vehicle, authorities said.

“It looks like we have somebody just driving around finding people and shooting them dead in their tracks,” Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Paul Matyas said after reports of the shootings emerged.

The gunman blasted his victims from the seat of a dark blue or silver Chevrolet HHR crossover, officials said.

Police meet early Sunday at Kalamazoo Valley Community College after searching for a gunman involved in multiple shootings Saturday.

“This is your worst nightmare, where you have someone driving around killing people, added Matyas, remarking later on the suspect’s arrest.

The gunman first shot a woman at the Meadows Townhomes complex in Richland Township at around 6 p.m. She was critically wounded while walking with at least two children.

“Lucky the children weren’t killed,” Matyas said.

The attacker moved on to the car dealership and opened fire on the father and son who were checking out cars in the parking lot, killing both. He drove four miles to the restaurant’s parking lot, spraying bullets that fatally struck five people including four adults and a 14-year-old girl outside the Cracker Barrel.

None of the victims have been identified.

Kalamazoo Police Chief Jeff Hadley said detectives “feverishly” pulled surveillance footage at the car dealership and restaurant to identity the suspect. He was initially believed to be a white man in his 50s driving a blue Chevy HHR.

“This is tragic for anyone and everyone who has to deal with this,” Hadley said. New York Daily News
