The houses were demolished in the Budiriro area opposite High Glen Shopping Centre where Soul Jah Love is one of the beneficiaries.

The Singer had the place courtesy of Boss Stancy and he even mentioned it in this song Kuponda Nhamo. Several families that had begun construction at the site suffered the same fate and the council said they will not stop.

The singer’s camp was not available for comment to ascertain the extent of the loss. Reports circulated on social networks yesterday that the singer had been held at Marimba police station following an altercation with municipal workers.

Harare principal communications officer Michael Chideme confirmed the demolitions in the quest of removing illegal structures.

“Municipal employees including municipal cops and those from the housing inspectorate descended on the stands which are opposite High Glen shopping Centre. We are going ahead with the demolition of all illegal structures in Harare, these include houses, churches and kiosks.

“The city is not going going back on that front because like we have always said we want to keep the beauty of Harare, the ambience of Harare and Harare should be an orderly city. Harare is moving forward to be a world class city by 2025 so we want world class structures and then we want world class urban planning,” Chideme said.
