The Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, which is representing the vendors, says the sixteen are expected back in court on August 4.

The Harare magistrates’ court had argued that the vendors, who are members of the National Vendors’ Union of Zimbabwe, will incite their counterparts to resist moving from the city center to designated vending cites.

Meanwhile, director of the Zimbabwe Informal Sector Organization Promise Mkwananzi says the vendors are still fighting running battles with the municipal police in the city center, as they continue to resist moving to cites which they say are unsuitable for vending. VOA Studio 7
