CHITUNGWIZA – A 22 year old man will perform community service at Chitungwiza Central Hospital over charges of having sexual intercourse with his 15 year old girlfriend.
Revai Gumbojena appeared in court facing allegations of co-habiting with his 15 year old girlfriend and having sexual relations with her.
During the initial hearing of the matter, Revai pleaded guilty to the offence.
He however, told the court that he wanted to pay lobola for his girlfriend.
“I have future plans with my girlfriend. I love her and I am willing to marry her if I am permitted to do so,” said Revai.
The court, led by Tendai Mukariri, heard it that on June 1 at around 2pm, Revai invited the minor to his house.
The minor informed her aunt, whom she stays with, that she wanted to visit a relative in Chitungwiza.
On June 4, the aunt received a tip off that her niece was co-habiting with Revai.
A complaint was lodged with the police and Revai was arrested. H Metro
