A 39 year old man has been hauled to court on allegations of punching his wife for deleting alleged love messages from her mobile phone.
Francis Mazhangara readily pleaded guilty to the charge of assault when he appeared before Mbare magistrate, Bianca Makwande.
He was remanded out of custody to 10 June for sentence.
Mazhangara told the court that he assaulted his wife out of anger.
“I got angry after I discovered that my wife had deleted love messages she had been receiving from another man.
“I had been noticing it for some time and when I asked for her phone on the day in question, I could not find them,” he said.
Circumstances leading to his arrest are that on June 7 at around 1 am, Elizabeth Mafunganyika, 36, was at home sleeping when her husband came and told her that she had a misunderstanding with some man in Glen Norah.
Mazhangara then turned to Mafunganyika punching her all over the body.
Mafunganyika then lodged a complaint with the police leading to his arrest.
Tendayi Matsikenyeri prosecuted.
