This came after reports that Bhasikiti was disgruntled following his dismissal from government as the purges of those associated to former vice president Joice Mujuru continue in Zanu PF.

In an interview with Nehanda Radio, Bhasikiti’s son, Jonathan ‘Boss Major’ Bhasikiti said his father has no intentions to leave neither the farm nor the country.

“I want to set the record straight. This is to confirm that we are pruning in order for new shoots to develop. This exercise was done after thorough and accurate research. We want these trees to grow up to 100 years old and that Mr Bhasikiti is here to stay,” Jonathan said.

Bhasikiti said that contrary to reports that he is sabotaging the new farmers by cutting down the trees, he in fact is in the process of pruning the trees in preparations of the next season.

“We are actually pruning the trees so that they grow better,” Bhasikiti said.

However his Zanu PF counterparts said Bhasikiti wanted to desert the farm and leave it in bad shape.

Speaking after taking her oath of office and loyalty to the country, the new Masvingo provincial affairs minister, Shuvai Mahofa said she would investigate allegations that Bhasikiti was vandalising property at his farm in anticipation that it would be repossessed.

Mahofa also promised to launch investigations into the Bikita Minerals and Tongaat Hullets issues, companies that have been accused of sponsoring the former vice president Joice Mujuru’s faction through Bhasikiti and ousted former energy minister Dzikamai Mavhaire.
