Zanu PF an elephant: VP Mnangagwa

Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa has assured the electorate that Zanu PF is a strong party which continues to guarantee political stability.

Mnangagwa, whose constituency fell vacant following his elevation to the post of Vice President, told supporters in Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe constituency that Zanu PF is like a giant elephant not intimidated by barking dogs.

“Zanu PF is an elephant that walks, walks and continues to walk. Under the leadership of President Robert Mugabe, Zanu PF will remain a strong party,” he said.

Mnangagwa said a political leader should earn respect from his own people in apparent reference Zanu PF’s former Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa’s rejection by people from his province.

“Cde Mutasa has now lost respect in his constituency and province, and that is the end of his political career in Zanu PF,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zanu PF Midlands Provincial Chairman, Kizito Chivamba has confirmed that the province has started receiving CVs from interested candidates willing to contest in the by-election for Chirumhanzu-Zibagwe constituency,

Zanu PF is optimistic of a resounding victory in the by-elections, one in Chirumanzu-Zibagwe and another in Mt Darwin West that was vacated by ousted former Vice President, Dr Joice Mujuru.

The polls will be held on 27 March. ZBC
