HARARE – Kudakwashe Munetsi the estranged husband of Sharon Macheso was yesterday fined for domestic violence.

Munetsi, who pummeled Sharon during a domestic altercation, was fined $200 or four months in prison after he was found guilty by regional magistrate Takunda Mtetwa.
Mtetwa also wholly suspended two months on condition he does not commit a similar offence within the next five years.
In passing sentence, Mtetwa said Munetsi and Sharon’s marriage lacked proper guidance and counselling, which made the honeymoon phase end too soon.
Considering that there were two lawyers involved in the case, Charles Chikore and Norman Mugiya, they would have advised the two and made headway in reconciliation, Mtetwa said.
“The whole marriage lacked maturity, genuine love and was marred by extensive media coverage from the onset,” Mtetwa said.
He said it was normal for new marriages to have problems but they should have at least brought the two together.
The marriage lacked ingredients for a good relationship.
In mitigation, Munetsi, through his defence counsel Chikore, said he was stressed with the whole case considering that it was getting a lot of media coverage.
He still disputed Sharon’s pregnancy. He said he would like to take full responsibility of the child whether he is gainfully employed or not.
“We (Chikore and Mugiya) had set up a meeting to engage Munetsi and his in-laws to resolve the matter but the Machesos refused saying they wanted him to be convicted,” Chikore said.
He added that Munetsi had showed remorse in trying to reconcile with his wife but he was given a cold shoulder. Daily News
