Goblins terrorise Inyathi villagers

GOBLINS have allegedly been terrorising villagers in Dromoland, Village 8 in Inyathi, where they are alleged to make thunder-like noises at their homesteads at night.

The goblins are also alleged to turn into “spiritual husbands” and sleep with female villagers.

The Chronicle news crew visited the area yesterday at around 12PM and scores of villagers were gathered at an abandoned ranch-house awaiting a tsikamutanda to conduct a cleansing ceremony.

The village headman, Grasham Ncube, who was also present, confirmed the reports, saying the villagers, mostly women, had come to seek protection from the goblins.

“We have been tormented by these creatures for quite some time now. The law doesn’t prohibit us from searching people’s homesteads even if we suspect they own goblins. However, this ceremony is for all villagers who have fallen prey to these things and are seeking deliverance,” said Ncube.

The villagers had been waiting patiently in the scorching heat since 8AM when the tsikamutanda arrived about four hours later.

He identified himself to the news crew as Zwilethu Gumede and pleaded to be covered “positively” for his “business” to flourish.

He then entered the barn and started chanting incoherent phrases before walking out in his ceremonial gear to preach to the villagers.

“We came here today to destroy these creatures that have been causing you sleepless nights. We’ve people from the newspapers here with us. If only they were there when we destroyed the goblin that was eating people in Village 7,” said Gumede.

He added that a goblin named Bheki was also destroyed after being dug up from underground at a nearby homestead.

Gumede, who was with a colleague, apologised to the villagers for coming late, claiming their car broke down on their way from destroying goblins that were terrorising a school in Nkayi district.

“We destroyed two goblins last night at Mathetshaneni Primary School. One of them used to sleep with male teachers and the other slept with female teachers. Male teachers would find their underwear at their colleagues’ houses. It was the same for the female teachers, who would find their panties at their male colleagues’ houses,” added Gumede.

Last month, the school was temporarily shut down after a teacher was hospitalised following a suspected goblin attack.

Gumede later turned to the news crew and warned villagers that their ordeals would be published nationwide.

The tsikamutanda told the people that some had demons for prostitution, murder among others and asked them if the news crew should witness that manifesting during the ceremony so that it is published.

Some of the villagers said they did not want their issues read and the Chronicle was barred from witnessing the cleansing ceremony. The Chronicle
