HARARE – Alick Macheso gave his estranged wife Tafadzwa Fortunate Mapako up to the end of business Monday to furnish him with reasons why she did not pitch up for their children’s DNA tests.

This followed doubts raised by the Sungura ace that he might not be the father of their two children.

Macheso and Tafadzwa have been locked in a nasty divorce, with Tafadzwa raising scurrilous allegations against the musician.

The two, through their lawyers, had agreed to conduct DNA tests for their children Alick Junior and Manisha.

The musician’s lawyers from Mugiya and Macharaga Law Chambers claimed she did not turn up on the agreed day and they have since written a letter to Tafadzwa’s lawyers from Hamunakwadi, Nyandoro and Nyambuya Legal Practitioners, seeking an explanation on the current impasse.

A letter seen by the Daily News, dated May 2, 2014 written by Macheso’s lawyers, sought Tafadzwa’s response by end of day Monday.

Failure to furnish them with reasons was going to prompt Macheso’s camp to approach the courts for redress.

“As you know that we agreed that parties should meet at 9:00am at the agreed venue for DNA tests,” said Macheso’s letter.

“We are shocked that your client did not turn up regardless of the fact that she knew and had actually agreed to the arrangement.

“We have no idea why your client had decided to play ‘cat and mouse’ game with the issue if she really knows that she is clean in the whole matter.”

The letter further claims Tafadzwa had resorted to investing her energy in peddling lies and issuing highly defamatory statements against Macheso, whom they say has exercised “amazing restraint”.

“We implore that you give wise counsel to your client so that she retains some form of respect and dignity,” Macheso’s lawyers said.

“Clearly, our client has prevailed over the situation which your client created and manufactured with a view to tarnish the image of our client and to undermine his business.

“It has become so apparent that we could see emotions taking precedence over reasoning on the part of your client following the separation of the parties.”

Macheso has since offered to pay $200 per week as maintenance pending the paternity tests.

In addition, he said, he is willing to pay $350 every month for rentals and $100 for medical costs. Daily News
