Bishops declare war on child abuse

Bishops from Apostolic and Zion churches have declared war on child abuse. This follows the launch of Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe Child Care Unit.

“Bishops from the different churches pledged to zero tolerance to child abuse. As the child Care Unit of ACCZ, we are going a step further and implementing various programmes so as to curb the abuse of children.

“We have the anti-child marriage campaign, child rights ambassadors, keeping girls in classrooms and out of bedroom campaigns aimed protecting children,” Clever Ndanga, the head of the Unit said.

ACCZ has about 700 affiliated churches with a following of about 7.3 million followers with about 4 million children.

“The unit was established in a bid to aspire the community to change the wellbeing of children and to arrest anything that threatens to derail the development of children,” Ndanga added,

Ndanga also noted that the Child Care Unit is implementing its various awareness campaigns by going to the districts and provinces and educating members of Apostolic and Zion churches. H Metro
