KWEKWE – Five directors in the Kwekwe City Council have come under fire for passing a resolution to purchase a brand new $57 000 Chevrolet vehicle for the Town Clerk Emmanuel Musara and two other vehicles for its top management.

Not only is the council struggling to pay salaries and wages among other pressing issues, there is already a backlash countrywide over fat cats and top executives in parastatals and local authorities who are earning obscene salaries.
It was recently revealed that the Kwekwe Town Clerk takes home $135 000 annually in salaries and benefits, a shocking revelation given that last week the city went for two days without water after Zinwa cut water supplies.
Previously the Kwekwe Mayor Matenda Madzoke set an example when he refused to accept a $58 000 Isuzu D–tec twin cab mayoral vehicle and directed that the money be spent on improving service delivery.
