Car thief caught and beaten by mob in the Avenues (Pictures)

A car thief who was caught in the Avenues in Harare on Friday evening was subjected to brutal mob justice before being left for dead on the pavement.

A Nehanda Citizen Reporter who took pictures of the incident said the man claimed he only wanted some beer which was in the car he was trying to break into and had no intention of stealing the car.

Those who caught him in the act were however not impressed by the explanation and continued bashing him. “He was caught running a wire through the window as he attempted to open the door,” another source said.

The man was left on the pavement the whole evening before an ambulance crew picked him up the following morning.
