CHISUMBANJE – Former Zimbabwe Warriors assistant coach Saul Chaminuka was on Tuesday unveiled by Green Fuel after dumping Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) new comers Bikita Minerals.
Chaminuka, formerly with Black Rhinos replaced Rodwell Dhlakama who was sacked by Green Fuel two weeks ago.
“Former Warriors assistant coach, Saul “Tizirirai” Chaminuka, who has been with Bikita Minerals, has joined Green Fuel as head coach replacing Rodwell Dhlakama,” announced Green Fuel.
In a statement, Bikita Minerals also confirmed they have parted ways with the ex-ZPC kariba coach, Chaminuka.
“Bikita Minerals can confirm the departure of Saul Chaminuka who leaves his role as Head Coach at the club with immediate effect.
“The executive would like to thank Chaminuka for his hard work and efforts in the five months since he joined but recent results and performances mean that his services were in demand,” wrote the club.
Chaminuka will be assisted by Taurayi Mangwiro while Innocent Chogugudza who once took over as an interim coach following Dhlakama’s departure, will remain as the goalkeepers’ coach.
The appointment of Chaminuka means he will reunite with Mangwiro who was his boss at CAPS United a few years ago.
Chaminuka’s first assignment will be a trip to Mutare to face off ‘unstoppable’ Manica Diamonds at Sakubva Stadium.
Ironically, the veteran gaffer clashed with Manica last week when he was still in charge of Bikita Minerals, losing 1-0 to the Jairos Tapera coached side.
Green Fuel are currently on 8th position with 15 points in 11 games, seven adrift of log leaders Manica Diamonds.
