Moyo, who is from Zimbabwe, won their fight in Cape Town on Friday night on a majority decision over ten rounds. Judges Rassie Erasmus and Elroy Marshal scored it 98-92 and 99-91 for Moyo and Clifford Mbelu handed in a rather surprising 95-95 score.

The result came as an upset to the former SA heavyweight champion’s supporters who saw Machimana lose to a far less experienced opponent.

Machimana’s record dropped to 18-8-2, with 13 wins inside the distance. Moyo’s improved to 4-5-2, with only 1 shortcut victory.
