BULAWAYO – Raunchy dancer Beverly ‘Bev’ Sibanda lost her cool on Saturday when she allegedly slapped an unidentified woman who had accused her of being a prostitute.
The drama took place after Bev’s performance at the Waverly Hotel in the city. The prostitutes operating in the hotel were apparently angered that Beverly’s show was affecting their business with most men preferring to watch her instead of courting them.
According to a report by the state owned Chronicle newspaper as soon as Bev finished her show she slapped the woman who was insulting her while also hurling abusive words in return.
“Bring her to my room, I want her to explain why she called me that. I am not a prostitute, but you are. That is why you are here, you are the prostitute not me,” Bev is said to have shouted.
Attempts by the dancer to get the police to arrest the woman who was allegedly abusing her came to nothing and so she decided to take matters into her own hands.
Its then that the security team employed by Bev allegedly dragged the woman to the dancer’s room where they stayed for over 30 minutes. When the lady emerged from the room, she said Bev had tried to have her arrested but the police had refused.
“There are a lot of people here and it is wrong for her to accuse this lady. Anyone in this place could have shouted the obscene word,” explained one police officer on the scene.
