D’banj flops, turns to women in Harare

By Latwell Nyangu

HARARE – Nigerian superstar D’banj (real name Dapo Daniel Oyebanjo) had a bad day in office after he delivered shoddy performance at the Lion Lager Beer Festival held at the Glamis Arena over the weekend.

The flamboyant singer left fans disgruntled and regretting ever parting with their hard earned cash to attend the show. After failing to rise to the occasion, he tried sexually suggestive dances but still could not win the hearts of many entertainment hungry fans.

The show which started on a low note was opened by King Shaddy followed by Guspy Warrior. But all eyes were on D’banj who was touted as the main act at this year’s edition.

“The money was too much and with this performance it’s sad, dai vangounza havo malocals chete,” said a disgruntled fan.

However, Ugandan chanter Bebe Cool did his best despite being a nonentity in Zimbabwe. He simply put on a spirited performance despite the fact that the majority of locals are not familiar with his stuff.

Without fear or favour, Ninja president Winky D stole the show and left fans clamouring for more with a well-choreographed act. Winky D was at his usual best, to say the least. To say his act was world class will be an understatement. Maybe magical is the correct word.

As per line up, D’banj was the last to perform but he left the expectant fans rather disappointed. This year’s Lion Lager Beer Festival was quite different as compared to previous editions as it attracted a small crowd. Fans believe Delta can do better in their choice of international acts.

Last year, P-Square left a lasting impression with their scintillating performance while Jamaican chanter Fantan Molah and Coco Tea graced previous editions. H Metro
