HARARE – Jazz sensation Dudu Manhenga was on Thursday found guilty of culpable homicide and driving with a provisional drivers licence without supervision. She was found guilty on her own plea and will be sentenced Friday by Harare magistrate Blessing Murwisi.

Her lawyer pleaded for a fine while prosecutor Barbra Ndoro urged the court to impose a custodial sentence. Dudu, as the 29 year old diva is fondly known, was brought to court as a result of an accident which happened in 2010 which led to the death of a motorcyclist.
The State alleges that on March 15 2010 around 14:15 hours, Dudu was driving a Toyota Spacio along Sherwood Drive. Allegations are that the now deceased, Graham Martin Millward, was riding his motorbike along the same road but coming from Dudu’s opposite direction.
Indications are that Dudu turned right into a house in Mabelreign and her car was hit by Graham’s motorbike. Graham was seriously injured as a result of the accident and was taken to West End Hospital where he unfortunately died on admission.
His motorbike is also said to have been seriously damaged. The state argues that Dudu turned right in front of oncoming traffic, she failed to keep a proper look out on the road ahead and that she failed to stop or act reasonably when the accident seemed imminent.
