Violet Kasinganeti, 18, also cleared the air over the nude pictures that were found in her mobile, describing it as a violation of her ‘privacy’.

She said that she was never caught sleeping with boyfriend Dylan Simbarashe Chimunya as alleged by her father Lawrence Kasinganeti, describing him as a liar.

“I was never caught having sex but my dad has natural hatred towards my boyfriend. My boyfriend was caught by some guys near our house and they started assaulting him and dragged him inside.

“We were about 10 metres away from home but those guys were hired. My mother knows the truth but she is afraid to speak out. My father is very influential and even those threats to paralyse me are genuine.

“As for those photos, they are mine, it’s my privacy. My little sister took them and my dad thought it was Dylan.

“Dylan bought the phone but he did not take them. Those are last year’s photos and he (dad) still has the photos. It’s my privacy but my dad seems to be interested nekuona ndisina kupfeka coz it’s last year’s picture but vanogara naro chete, what’s that? She queried.

She said that her father wants her to date another guy.

“My dad does not like Dylan and even threatened to hurt him. He wants me to date another guy and even mentioned it,” she added. She revealed that she fled home after the incident, seeking help, and she is currently staying with her sister.

Chengetai said she was in a dilemma as her boyfriend’s parents no longer want her following the assault of Dylan and at the same time she cannot go back home.

“I’m currently staying with my sister. I left home the very day, seeking help. Now I do not know what to do because my boyfriend’s parents no longer want to see me and at the same time my parents no longer want to see me,” she said.

The incident in February led to the arrest of Violet’s father and three others Gabriel Tandi, Charles Mutake and Zvikombororero Tani of the same area. The four appeared in court charged with assault, theft and kidnapping and they were all acquitted of the charges.

Violet added that she was surprised to learn that the four were acquitted of the allegations.

“They all assaulted him and even his friends who tried to rescue him were also beaten,” she said.

She also emphasised that she still has deep love for her boyfriend and the tension between their parents is hurting her. The girl’s father said that he suspected the Chimunya family might have the knowledge of his daughter’s whereabouts.

“I think they know where my daughter is, because from that day she has not returned home. She is sending me messages of what transpired at court but she was not there,” he said.

He said Chimunya was also hauling him to court seeking a peace order, which he believes is an attempt to stop him from enquiring about his daughter.

“I think this is just an attempt to frustrate me from enquiring about my daughter. She has just sent me a message advising me that they were seeking to appeal against our acquittal,” he said.

On the other hand Chimunya distanced himself from the girl’s disappearance.

“I think he is stage managing the whole thing. The girl might be with his relatives. The nude pictures were grabbed from my son’s phone.

“Of course I’m not happy with how my son was treated. Even if he said he was assaulted by the mob, they should have made arrangements to have him treated. We will take measures against the judgement,” he said. H Metro
