Tongai Dhewa Moyo’s widow, Minenhle Mukweli says she no longer considers herself part of the Moyo family and will not attend her late husband’s commemoration to be held in Kwekwe and Sesombe.

She said she had moved on and was now in a steady relationship that is heading towards marriage.
And as such, she cannot continue living in the past, even though she has a seven-year-old child from her marriage to Tongai Moyo, who succumbed to cancer on 15 October last year. An official gig was to be held at Mbizo Stadium on Sunday while a service was to be conducted at Dhewa’s rural home in Sesombe, Gokwe the following day.
Minenhle said the media should stop “following her every movement.” She however, refused to reveal her Mr Right saying she will only do it when all formalities are done.
“I will not attend the commemoration for I have found a new lover ready to marry me any time soon. I cannot disclose his name right now but the truth is that I am in a relationship. I will also invite you on my wedding day and am not ashamed to say it now. The press had researched more about me after I moved out of Tongai’s house. Pastors, traditional leaders and spirit mediums were even consulted. I am free to be married and I am proud that I found someone to lean on.
“Moving out of Tongai’s house means that I am no longer Mai Moyo and the press must no longer take me as a celebrity and focus on the new Mai Moyo when Peter marries,” said Minenhle.
She dismissed the talk that she is dating Dhewa’s best friend, Bamet Mutosvori amid criticism from some quarters that she did not follow the traditional custom which stipulates she had to wait for a period of at least one year before moving on.
“No one bought a car for me and if my lover had bought it I have no reason to hide it from you for it is not a sin to be in love with another man after the death of Tongai. The media should give me space and allow me to move on with my life because I’m no longer a celebrity, and I repeat, I’m no longer a celebrity,” said Minenhle.
