Stan Kasukuwere bitter at mafia style removal

By Roy Matiki

Former Dynamos secretary Stan Kasukuwere said the decision to sideline him from the club was “mafia-planned” and will not resolve problems at the club. He said there is evidence of instability between the players and the executive as some players still come to him for help, months after being fired.

Dynamos players last week boycotted training over unpaid bonuses. The Dynamos board of directors appointed Kasukuwere in May last year, as a replacement for suspended Tawanda Murerekwa. This was Kasukuwere’s second stint in the Dynamos executive after having once served in 2005.

Last year, Kasukuwere clashed with a section of DeMbare fans following his verbal clash with then chairman Patson Moyo and fans believed their fallout led to the club losing the championship to Gunners. The former DeMbare secretary said he would not argue with the board’s decision but indicated that he is a bitter man.

“I have put a lot of resources from my pocket but I will not make noise about it and my relationship with the players was very close. For the sake of the club, I managed to persuade key players to remain at Dynamos. I was the one who managed to influence striker Cuthbert Malajila to have a change of heart at the last minute and made him not to join FC Lupopo.”

“But let me put it on record that I did not take the decision of my being ousted from Dynamos lightly. I am surprised some people did not appreciate my efforts,” Kasukuwere said.

He cited the continued hiring and firing of administrators as the root cause of problems at the club. The Harare businessman said it was disheartening that executives at Dynamos are changed like diapers. Kasukuwere said good administrators come with brilliant ideas, but are never given a chance to implement them.

The persistent problems at Dynamos, he said, have resulted in sponsors shunning them. Kasukuwere said he was not a failure during his tenure because it was the year that Dynamos was ranked among the top six on the African continent and given a bye in the 2010 Champions League preliminary round.

He said he would remain a loyal DeMbare fan but closed the door on any possible return to the management committee. Kasukuwere, who was fired in January this year, also spoke about the current DeMbare executive led by Farai Munetsi. “Munetsi is a professional administrator and given chance I would love to work with him,” Kasukuwere noted.
