With English Premiership club Blackburn Rovers having been priced out of moves for top transfer targets Aruna Dindane and Frederic Piquionne, Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce is looking to secure the services of Manchester City and Zimbabwe striker Benjani, according to the UK Daily Mirror.
Having missed out on top targets, Allardyce is keen to land a new striker before the World Cup and Zimbabwean striker Benjani looks within Rovers’ price range. The 31-year-old is currently on £50,000 per week but is reported to be willing to take a pay cut to secure more regular first team football.
Blackburn have been linked with the player in previous transfer windows, but with Allardyce’s increased “spending power” this summer, the club may well be able to attract the striker.
Benjani has been on loan from Manchester City at Sunderland this season and has made eight appearances for the club with no return in goals. During the 2008-2009 season the Zimbabwean made 23 appearances for Manchester City scoring four goals. The Daily Rover.com
