Zimbabwean woman found dead in UK

A Zimbabwean woman was found dead in a flat in Leicester, the United Kingdom. The body of Julia Mubvumba, 44, was discovered at an address in Gotham Street, in the Highfields area of the city, on Friday. A 34-year-old man was charged on Saturday night with murder and is expected to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court later. 

Police officers were called to the flat where Dhlamini-Mubvumba lived alone, shortly after 3pm and made the discovery. The street was then sealed-off.

“Police were called to a flat in Gotham Street in the Highfields area of Leicester at 3.11pm following concerns about the welfare of the occupant. 

“Officers attended the address and discovered the body of a woman. We are in the very early stages of our investigation,” a police spokesman said and issued an appeal for information that might help establish what happened. 

Neighbours said Dhlamini-Mubvumba had lived in the flat in an end-of-terrace house since December2009.

“I knew the woman who lived in the house. She was just a very normal lady – about 45, I think. She had moved in December,” a member of staff at a near-by garage said. BBC/Agencies
