Zim man jailed for UK immigration fraud
UK – A 37-year-old Zimbabwean man from Brierley Hill who got jobs as a care assistant and a mental health nurse using false documentation has been jailed for seven months. Judge John Warner at Wolverhampton Crown Court told Richman Matinyadze in one sense it was to his credit he had gained employment after being granted asylum in the UK and been a “good worker.”
Zimbabweans top asylum seekers worldwide
The U.N. refugee agency says Zimbabweans top the list of people seeking asylum abroad. The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees said in its latest report 158,200 Zimbabweans sought asylum last year, fleeing political and economic turmoil and uncertainties over a fragile coalition government.
