Rwanda's President Paul Kagame has said he would return money to the UK if no asylum seekers are sent to his country under his deal with the government. The UK has paid £240m to Rwanda, with a further £50m to come. So far, no asylum seekers have been sent to the country.

The opposition Labour Party in the UK is considering plans to process some asylum claims overseas to discourage many from making the dangerous journey across the Channel in boats.

Rwanda's asylum system is so poor that it is biased against many people who could be genuine refugees, say lawyers for the United Nations' Refugee Agency.
