Robert Mugabe Day, a mockery of epic proportions
Patson Dzamara - However, despite such a decorated resume, Mugabe has done unthinkable things which outweigh his noble contributions in the past. When his legendary exploits of the past are juxtaposed to his current deplorable status, one is convinced beyond any doubt that indeed power corrupts. Mugabe has presided over monumental failures in the past 37 years of his leadership journey. Not only that, he continues to dodder on the affairs of Zimbabwe despite his inability to perfom his duties as a result of old age.
Grace Mugabe and the fallacy of joyful impoverishment
Tafi Mhaka - I once visited a rural homestead in Murehwa for a brand research exercise and came eye to eye with frightening and unquantifiable destitution. A frail looking woman welcomed me into her humble household for half a day. My lone takeaway from that leisurely and warm-hearted experience was profound bitterness at how substantial and debilitating poverty has become in Zimbabwe. Perhaps this seemingly institutionalised deficiency is larger than politics? What kind of civilisation have we built so far when a few distinguished people have so much property and money and the majority have inconsequential material and monetary assets?
Why Southern African women can’t resist West African men
Jean Gasho - However, even in my immaturity, there was something I tried so hard to fight during all the years I was married. I was never physically attracted to my ex-husband. When we got together, physical attraction never once came into play. I was just grateful that a man had been kind enough to love me. But as the years went on, I find myself battling with something so deep yet unspoken. I would look at him and think good Lord, I do not find this man attractive at all.
People losing hope in grand coalition
Zimbabweans who had pinned their hopes on the possibility of a grand coalition of opposition political parties to challenge President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF in the 2018 elections should be disappointed with the slow pace of negotiations.
Mr President, where are you?
Stanley Gama - What has our country been reduced to by this merciless Zanu PF regime? This is the question many people, young and old have been asking. When the angry and long-suffering people of Zimbabwe meet journalists they also ask us what we are doing to expose the rot that has seen them reduced to paupers when at independence all looked rosy.
