As part of his campaign strategy, ZIFA presidential aspirant Nqobile Magwizi has said “every province should have a CAF approved stadium” if he is elected into office.
The initiative is aimed at decentralising international matches, allowing national teams to play across all the country’s ten provinces rather than solely in Harare as has been the situation in recent years.
Magwizi who is among the six candidates vying for the ZIFA presidential post, believes infrastructural development is key in improving Zimbabwean football.
He told ZimPapers Sports Hub: “We need sufficient and correct infrastructure. Every province should have a stadium that is CAF-approved.”
Zimbabwe has been playing its international matches in foreign land due lack of CAF approved stadiums, a thing that Magwizi believes he can put to bed once elected.
Furthermore, the ZIFA presidential hopeful advocated for high-performance centers in each region to “facilitate competitions and generate commercial value”.
He added: “Every region should have a high-performance centre, ensuring that we host competitions to create commercial value.”
“I think Zimbabwe has been offered an amazing opportunity to transform its football, to restart the football systems.
“You can remember we had the Covid-19 pandemic, and after that we got suspended.
“After the suspension we got under the FIFA administration.
“And I think we have had enough time to self-introspect and see exactly where we want to take our football as a nation.
“So, the elections that are coming give all of us an opportunity to turn a new page.
“For the past 25 or so years, ZIFA has not been modelled in a sustainable manner that is business-based.’’
Magwizi who has been touted as the favourite to win the ZIFA presidential post in the next polls scheduled for 25 January in Harare, sees the upcoming elections as a chance to usher in a new era in Zimbabwean football particularly through creating a sustainable ZIFA.

Wise innovation but where would the football body get money .
Start by telling us how you are going to source the seeds to plant not how many bags you will harvest. Your story starts at the end. You haven't told us where you will source the funds but you are already talking about stadiums.
Typical zimbos someone tells them positive visions, they are complaining "kurota" "we just need one" "zifa yakambovaka ground kupi" " ufika lesiyezi" it says a lot about us before we talk of bad governance,we are toxic ourselves no wonder we are behind in infrastructure development
