Zimbabwe international Tawanda Maswanhise could be set for another major step in his career after reports linked him with a move to African football giants Al Ahly.
According to prominent African football journalist Mickey Junior, the Cairo-based club has identified the young attacker as one of its transfer targets ahead of the upcoming season.
The report claims Motherwell FC are valuing Maswanhise at around US$4 million, a figure Al Ahly are reportedly prepared to pay as they seek to strengthen their frontline.
Maswanhise has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in the Scottish Premiership, emerging as one of Motherwell’s standout performers despite his relative inexperience at senior level.
The Warriors forward has scored 22 goals across all competitions this season, a return that has significantly raised his profile both in Scotland and internationally.
His performances were recognised at club level when he received Motherwell’s Young Player of the Year award following a series of influential displays.
Interest in the Zimbabwean has also spread across Europe. Belgian side RSC Anderlecht, Scottish rivals Celtic FC and Rangers FC, as well as English club Blackburn Rovers FC, have all reportedly monitored the striker in recent months.
Maswanhise’s rapid development has also strengthened his importance within the Zimbabwe national football team setup, where he is increasingly viewed as one of the country’s most promising attacking talents.
A move to Al Ahly would place the forward at one of Africa’s most successful clubs, known for competing regularly in the CAF Champions League and attracting some of the continent’s top players.
Neither Motherwell nor Al Ahly had officially commented on the reported interest at the time of publication.
