Mapeza bids farewell to FC Platinum players and staff amid reports he is joining Hardrock

HARARE – Veteran gaffer Norman Mapeza on Sunday bade farewell to FC Platinum players and staff amid reports he is set to join newly promoted side Hardrock FC.

Mapeza took time to address the FC Platinum family in the dressing room after the platinum miners drew 0-0 with Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium in Harare.

Speaking to the players, Mapeza said: “Tayinetsana, but it’s because I wanted you to be better players. Ndokudayi. Dai ndisingakudeyi, ndisinganetsani nemi, but because I care for you. You need to be strong.

“I didn’t want to talk about this (my departure) during the week because some of you might have been affected.

“You might have heard it through the grapevine, but guys, here is the news, I’m leaving.

“Most of you are new at this club, save for Wallace Magalane and Hagiazo Magaya.”

Mapeza also urged his players to respect the next coach who will replace him.

“Whoever is going to come to this club, please show him the same respect you have been showing me. Please don’t change, give him respect.

“The morning routines we were used to doing, maintain them, except if the new coach changes and brings his own style,” Mapeza added.

Reports suggest that Joel Luphahla, who was with Simba Bhora, is expected to replace the former Zimbabwe national team coach.
