ZVISHAVANE – Veteran coach Norman Mapeza is reportedly on his way out of FC Platinum at the end of the current Castle Lager Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, with strong indications that he could be heading to ambitious Central Region Division One log leaders Hardrock FC.
According to information gathered from reliable football corridors, Mapeza, who has enjoyed great success with the Zvishavane-based side, is expected to make the switch to Kwekwe next year.
Though both FC Platinum and Hardrock have not issued official statements, insiders suggest that negotiations are already underway, and an agreement could be reached once the current campaign concludes.
Hardrock are currently sitting at the top of the Central Region Division One League standings and are favourites to win promotion to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for the first time in the club’s history.
The team’s management is reportedly eager to secure an experienced and proven coach who can help them establish themselves among the country’s football elite and Mapeza fits that profile perfectly.
The former Warriors gaffer has enjoyed immense success with FC Platinum, guiding the club to multiple league titles.
He briefly left the club for a stint in South Africa with Chippa United, before returning to Zvishavane.
Should the move materialise, Mapeza’s arrival at Hardrock would mark a major statement of intent by the Kwekwe-based outfit, signalling their readiness to compete at the highest level.
For now, both clubs remain tight-lipped.
