A cat with seven lives… stroke victim L’vovo Derrango speaks on near death experiences

SOUTH AFRICA – Legendary South African musician L’vovo Derrango, who recently made his return to the music industry, has described himself as a cat with seven lives after his recovery from a stroke.

Derango, recently released the track AmaXhosa, which he declared as a sign that he had fully recovered from a stroke that nearly took his life.

The musician revealed that he had survived four incidents, including two car accidents.

The Bayangisukela hitmaker said his first life ended when he survived a horrific car crash in Mpumalanga in 2007, an accident that claimed the lives of their driver and DJ Buddha.

The 45-year-old musician added that his second life ended in 2021 when he lost his mother, Thoko Ndlovu, while the third came to an abrupt halt after he survived another car accident in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, in 2022.

“I tell my friends that I have seven lives, and already lived four of them, only three remaining. I’ve survived a horrific car crash, rushed to hospital, came back and lost my mum,” he said.

The Kwaito star detailed the 2022 incident that had led to his hospitalisation for stroke. This, he said, was the end of his fourth life.

“The stroke attacked me during my performance at KwaDukuza in December 2022.

“I remember I performed three songs and when I was about to perform song number four, I felt dizzy, and was unable to set my right foot down and rushed to hold the pole on the stage and ended up sitting down.

“Paramedics helped me get off stage, and I was rushed to hospital. I woke up in the hospital on Christmas Day. I was hurt and also failed to attend Mampintsha’s funeral. I spent three weeks in hospital, and I had to use a wheelchair when I was discharged,” he said.
