Scottland near the promised land after Simba Bhora’s 1-0 defeat to CAPS United

HARARE – Premier Soccer League (PSL) newcomers Scottland FC are edging closer to the promised land.

This comes after title contenders Simba Bhora suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to CAPS United at their Wadzanayi Stadium fortress in Shamva on Saturday, their first home loss of the season.

Simba Bhora’s slip allowed Scottland to open up a four-point lead at the top of the table with only four games remaining.

The club is now on the brink of making history, aiming to become only the second team to win the PSL title in their debut season.

Scottland also hope to repay the faith of club owner Scott Sakupwanya for his heavy investment in a project boasting a squad of star players.

So far, only Black Rhinos have managed the feat, winning the PSL title in their debut season back in the 1980s.

However, Scottland’s lead could be cut to a single point if Simba Bhora win their game in hand against Triangle United, a tricky fixture set for Gibbo Stadium when rescheduled.

Should the reigning champions, who currently sit on 55 points, fail to win, the title race would take a new twist, tilting further in Scottland’s favour.

Luphahla, on the other hand, wants to lift his first PSL title in his debut season as a head coach at top-flight level.

The coming weeks will be crucial for both teams, especially their first fixtures after the international break.

Scottland face a tricky home encounter against MWOS, who beat them 1-0 in the reverse fixture, while Simba Bhora travel to face Ngezi Platinum Stars.
