‘Mr Carling Black Label’ Elvis Chipezeze voted MOTM after another impressive performance

DURBAN – Zimbabwe national team goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze may have earned himself a new nickname following his string of impressive performances in South Africa’s Carling Black Label Cup.

The Magesi first-choice keeper and captain could now rightfully be called ‘Mr Carling Black Label.’

Sunday’s 3-2 victory over AmaZulu, which knocked Usuthu out of the tournament, saw Chipezeze once again voted Man of the Match, underlining his dominance in the competition.

This latest gong was Chipezeze’s fifth Man of the Match award in the same tournament since last season, when he scooped four consecutive accolades.

With each award carrying a cash prize of R100,000, the goalkeeper has pocketed a cool R500,000 from his heroics.

Chipezeze also claimed the Player of the Tournament award last season, when he helped Magesi lift the trophy, cementing his status as ‘Mr Carling Black Label.’

Meanwhile, his Warriors teammate Washington Arubi was also on fire the previous day (Saturday).

Arubi saved three penalties and converted the decisive one as Marumo Gallants eliminated Mamelodi Sundowns after a penalty shootout.

Both goalkeepers are expected to report for Warriors camp as Zimbabwe prepare to face rivals South Africa on Friday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
